Nightmare

"Nightmare" delves into the darkest recesses of the subconscious mind, exploring how our deepest fears manifest in the realm of dreams. This etching and aquatint piece captures the disorienting and often terrifying landscape of the nightmare state.

The work draws from psychological theories about dream symbolism and the ways in which our sleeping minds process trauma, anxiety, and suppressed emotions. Through the traditional printmaking techniques of etching and aquatint, I've created textures and tonal variations that mirror the fluid, unstable nature of dream imagery.

The composition intentionally blurs the boundaries between figure and ground, reality and hallucination, inviting viewers to confront their own experiences with the darker aspects of the unconscious mind. The piece serves as both a personal exorcism and a universal exploration of the human psyche's capacity for self-torment and, ultimately, healing.
