Artist Statement

"Higher Burning Fire" explores themes of spiritual ascension and transformation through the powerful metaphor of flame. This etching combines traditional printmaking techniques with contemporary symbolic imagery to create a meditation on transcendence and renewal.

The piece draws inspiration from ancient alchemical texts and mystical traditions that view fire as both destroyer and creator. Through careful line work and tonal gradations achieved in the etching process, I've sought to capture the dual nature of transformation - the necessary destruction that precedes rebirth.

The composition guides the viewer's eye upward, following the ascending flames that seem to carry both burden and hope. This vertical movement reflects the spiritual journey from earthly concerns toward higher understanding, a theme that resonates throughout my printmaking practice.
